2 Ciabatta Rolls
4 good quality sausages
8 rashers smoked streaky bacon
4 slices of black pudding
100g mature cheddar cheese
2 maris piper potatoes
3 Knobs of butter
1 tbsp harissa paste (optional)
3 tbsp of ketchup
1 tbsp maple syrup
This is the kind of breakfast sandwich you want to bring home to your parents. A FoodSlut original brought to you by Thom Bateman a great way to start / or finish your weekend. Toasted ciabatta roll filled bottom to top with a harissa hash brown , sausage, streaky bacon, black pudding, melted cheddar cheese , fried eg, maple and bacon fat ketchup.
If thats not a slutty sandwich I do not know what is.
Start by getting the hash brown going, use grate the potato until some kitchen towel and pat away as much moisture as you can.
Add the grated potato to a bowl mix in the harissa (optional) season with salt and pepper then in the pan you’re going to fry the potato in melt the knob of butter then pour it into the grated potato and stir.
Pack the potato in the frying pan and cook on a medium heat. Don’t stir or move the potato it will bond together as the heat goes through it because of the starch. Be patient when its holding together flip it over and colour the other side. Then keep this cooking on a low heat until you’re ready to serve it. You can crisp up the outside by increasing the heat just before you build the sandwich.
For the sausages these should be cooked on a medium heat in a frying pan, don’t go too heavy with the heat colour them well all over and then add to a roasting tray pop in the oven at 180c to cook them through should take about 30 mins, cut through the centre to check they are done.
In the same pan as the sausages were cooked in add the streaky bacon, render some fat out by frying it, Then in a bowl mix the ketchup and maple syrup before pouring in the bacon fat. Add the bacon to the tray with the sausages
For the black pudding use the same pan again colour on both sides before also adding this to the tray with sausages and bacon, keeping that oven at 180 add slices of the cheese to the top of the black pudding to melt. So now you have all the meat parts keeping warm in the oven.
Toast the ciabatta rolls in the frying pan with the meat juices in, for an extra slutty touch add another knob of butter in there while you’re toasting it.
To Fry the eggs always, always cook them slowly in a knob of butter on a low temp, they will always be perfect and you get super filthy yolk drips. Use the same pan again.. keep that washing up low.
Now you’re ready to build this beauty.. Bread first bit of the ketchup, hashbrown, sausages sliced in half, streaky bacon, black pudding with the melt cheese, more ketchup, fried egg and then the lid!
